Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday extended her heartiest greetings and best wishes to people of the state ahead of Independence Day celebrations on Sunday.

In a message, Dr Soundararajan said this 75th Independence Day, which is being celebrated as the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, is a momentous day in the history of our country. After innumerable sacrifices and relentless struggle, we were liberated from colonial rule and achieved independence, she said. The governor said India made significant progress in all sectors after independence and we have been enjoying the fruits of it.

"I offer my sincere tributes to all the freedom fighters for making this freedom a reality through struggle and sacrifice," she said. On this auspicious occasion, let us remember those who laid down their lives and resolve to make India strong, secure, and self-reliant in all aspects in the true spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Dr Soundararajan said. "I wish you all to celebrate this occasion with the best of patriotic fervor and gaiety while duly adhering to the COVID-19 preventive norms,'' the governor added.
