Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday nominated TRS Vidyarthi Vibhagam (TRSV) president Gellu Srinivas Yadav as a candidate for the Huzurabad Legislative Assembly by-election.
"Chief Minister and TRS party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared Gellu Srinivas Yadav, a student leader in the Telangana movement and TRAV's current student wing state president, as the TRS party's candidate in the Huzurabad constituency by-election," TRS said in a statement.
TRS said Gellu Srinivas Yadav has been working diligently with dedication in the TRS since its inception. "Gellu Srinivas Yadav, who was the president of the TRSV department at Osmania University, was arrested and jailed several times during the movement. Recognizing Gellu Srinivas' disciplined personality, sense of service, and commitment, CM KCR finalized his candidature," the party said.
Huzurabad Assembly seat fell vacant after former Telangana health minister Eatala Rajender resigned on June 12 after he was removed from the cabinet over land encroachment. Later, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party and is likely to contest the upcoming Huzurabad by-election.
