Hyderabad: Four out of five- local exit polls in Telangana have predicted TRS turncoat and BJP candidate Eatala Rajendra as the 'winner' in the Huzurabad by-polls that ended on October 30th, 2021.

Post-poll surveys have indicated Eatala having an edge by a marginal percentage. However, it is pertinent to note that ruling all-mighty TRS has put up a robust battle and managed to capture a high voting share, despite anti-incumbency and high sympathy for the latter.

In elections of sorts, the Congress-led by TPCC President A Revanth Reddy was nothing but a ghost party in the said election. This substantiates that the battle was between Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his friend turned foe Eatala Rajender.

Local exit polls- namely Political Lab has given BJP 51% - while 42 % to TRS, While HMR Research, predicted 51.16% win for BJP and - 44.98% for TRS. Similar prediction patterns were observed by others.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Senior Political Analyst C R Gowri Shankar said, "Let's wait for the actual results. However, it is a fact that Eatala is riding high on sympathy. The high turnout of votes reflects massive support to either of the candidates. The high octanal by-polls is a prestige issue for KCR and Eatala.

He further adds, "In my 3 decades of political reporting, I have never seen such flow of money. Each voter was bribed, people were seen admitting it in the open. It is a terrible state of democracy. The election commission should seriously probe while the police bookcases, corruption is deep-rooted into elections".

Surpassing its 2018 assembly election's polling percentage, the 2021 Huzurabad by-polls recorded a whopping 86.33%. With isolated incidents of clashes and 80 odd complaints registered with the Chief Election Officer- Telangana, the election overall was largely a smooth affair.

With all eyes on November 2nd – results of the by-polls, the day would also mark the future of Eatala's political career. Eatala's win will boost the BJP's vote bank in Telangana, the latter would join the band of MLAs representing the Saffron party. However, his loss will indicate that anyone who– raises a battle against TRS Supremo KCR, would end up losing his political career.
