Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in a few places in Telangana for the next five days.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall will occur at isolated places in Kamareddy, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Nizamabad, Warangal Rural, and Warangal Urban districts in the next five days. The southwest monsoon has been normal in Telangana during the last 24 hours with many places in the state witnessing rains.

The director of GHMC's enforcement, vigilance, and disaster management said there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in the city in the next 30 minutes (at 4:40 p.m) and added that citizens may plan their commute accordingly.

IMD said that Saturday's trough runs from west Madhya Pradesh to Telangana across Vidarbha and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and adjoining Vidarbha at 3.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked, the weather bulletin read.

The Telangana State Development Planning Society said the state average cumulative rainfall from 1 June to 22 August is 633 mm against the normal 535.3 mm with a deviation of 18 per cent. Meanwhile, the GHMC average cumulative rainfall for the same period is 448.2 mm against the normal 425.7 mm with a deviation of 5.3 per cent.
