By Newsmeter Network Published on 26 Aug 2021 2:03 PM GMTHyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) minorities department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Thursday demanded that the issue of the reconstruction of two Secretariat mosques be included in the agenda of the meeting proposed to be held by welfare minister Koppula Eshwar on 28 August.
The two mosques were illegally demolished by the TRS government in July 2020.
Mr. Abdullah Sohail said the state government has issued a circular saying that the welfare minister will conduct a review meeting at the directorate of minorities welfare in Hyderabad on 28 August to discuss various issues, mostly pertaining to Wakf affairs. However, the agenda does not include the most important subject, the reconstruction of the Secretariat mosques, the Congress leader added.
"Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao cheated the Muslim community by giving different deadlines for laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction. He did not honour his commitment which includes the assurance given in the Legislative Assembly. Later, Home minister Mahmood Ali came into the picture and gave deadlines for the commencement of the reconstruction. Now, he has vanished from the scene and the TRS government is using Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem to cheat the Muslims. The Wakf Board held two meetings to announce that the design of the new mosques has been approved," he alleged.
The Congress leader said that the agenda for the meeting includes discussion on the development of Jahangir Peeran Dargah, renovation of Mecca Masjid, construction of Anees Ul Gurba, construction of Mannan (Sathram) in Ajmer, Rajasthan, and construction of Pahadishareef CC ramp to Baba Sharfuddin Dargah, development of Moulali Dargah, and construction of Christian Bhavan.
"The non-inclusion of Secretariat mosques in the agenda clearly shows that the TRS is not serious about their reconstruction. It is just dragging the issue on one pretext or the other so as to facilitate the construction of the new Secretariat building. The Muslim community has now realized that it is being cheated and misled by the TRS leadership," he said.
Mr. Abdullah Sohail alleged that the TRS leaders were acting like an organized gang to cheat the minorities. He pointed out that the Home minister convened a meeting on 26 August to discuss the minorities' issues and the implementation of schemes. He alleged that in two days, the welfare minister will hold a meeting with a different agenda while a day earlier, the Wakf Board chairman had held a meeting on almost similar issues. They are trying to divert the attention of minorities from their failures, he said.
The Congress leader demanded that the Chief Minister conduct a review meeting to discuss the issues of the Secretariat mosques, scholarships for students, and jobs and loans for jobless youth of minority communities. He said that the development of minorities has come to a standstill due to the non-release of sanctioned funds.
