KIMS, Sunshine, Century lose their license to treat COVID19 patients

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government in its efforts to curb private hospitals from fleecing covid patients by excess charging, has cracked its whip against big hospitals.
The government on June 1st has revoked the license of KIMS Hospitals-Secunderabad, Sunshine Hospitals-Gachibowli, Century Hospitals-Banjara Hills, Lotus Hospitals- Lakdikapul, Medisys Hospital- L.B.Nagar and Integro Hospital, Tolichowki Main Road, Retibowli.
These hospitals add to the existing list of 27 more who have been stripped off license to treat covid patients.
According to the Director of Public Health- Telangana, Dr G Srinivas Rao, many complaints have been received against private hospitals with regard to, excess and irrelevant charges in addition to the prescribed norms. Others include mismanagement, lack of proper attention etc.
The department has so far taken action on those complaints as below.
A total of 174 complaints (166 complaints as of 31st May 2021 and 08 Complaints as 1st June, 2021 received against 113 Hospitals.) Around 113 Hospitals were issued show-cause notices, and 22 Hospitals in Hyderabad were barred from treating COVID patients. The hospitals have been asked to treat the already admitted patients and discharge them accordingly.
