Lockdown rules meant to break chain of COVID-19: Mahender Reddy
The DGP sought cooperation and support from the public for the initiative taken by the state government to get over the pandemic.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 May 2021 10:31 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy on 24 May said the strict enforcement of the lockdown in the state is intended to break the chain of infection and protect the public. He further said the police are permitting the movements of essential service workers, emergency services, doctors and other paramedical staff, and online food delivery services.
The DGP made a surprise visit to the Nagole check-post and interacted with Rachakonda commissioner of police Mahesh Bhagwat and other officers.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Reddy said the lockdown will be implemented strictly. He requested the public to inside their homes and come out only for emergencies and essentials. He warned that people found wandering on roads without proper reason will face serious actions and their vehicles will be seized. All seized vehicles will only be returned post lockdown, he added.

On 22 May, the Hyderabad police had detained and beaten up several delivery executives of food delivery apps Swiggya and Zomato despite such services being exempted from lockdown timings.
