Maoist leader Gaddam Madhukar, with Rs 8L bounty on his head, dies of COVID-19
Maoist leader and member of Dandakaranya special zone Gaddam Madhukar alias Shobrai died of COVID-19 on Sunday while he was being transported to Hyderabad for treatment.

The Maoist leader carried a reward of Rs. 8 lakhs on his head.
Madhukar, a resident of Kumurambheem Asifabad, was arrested on 2 May in Warangal city suburbs while the police were conducting vehicle inspections. He was examined at a private hospital where he tested positive for the coronavirus. His condition deteriorated while undergoing treatment. The police made arrangements to transport him to Hyderabad for treatment but he died en route on Sunday.
He told the police that 12 other key leaders in Dandakaranya were infected with the coronavirus but they were not allowed to leave the forest unless their health deteriorated.
"The information illustrates that the CPI (Maoist) is violating basic human rights of the cadres. They are behaving inhumanly and not allowing the ailing cadres to receive treatment. We appeal to all leaders and cadres who are suffering from Covid -19 to contact us and we will provide them with the best available treatment," Said Tarun Joshi, Police Commissioner, Warangal on Wednesday.
Tarun Joshi also released the list of some of the cadres who are suspected to be suffering from Covid -19 and other health issues. They include Katakam Sudarshan alias Anand CCM, Thippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji CCM, Yapa Narayana alias Haribhushan, TSC Secretary, Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar, TSCM, Kankanala Raji Reddy TSCM, Katta Ramchandra Reddy, Vikalp, DKSZCM, DKSZC Spokesperson, Mula Devender Reddy, DKSZCM, Kunkati Venkataiah, South Bastar DVC Secretary, Muchaki Ungal DVCM & Venkatapuram- Wazeedu ACS, Kodi Manjula, South Bastar, DVCM, Pusam Padma, ACM, and Kakarla Sunitha ACM.
Warangal police commissioner Tarun Joshi called on Maoists to approach them for treatment in case they are infected with COVID-19. He said the police would personally oversee their treatment. He suggested the leaders undergoing treatment at Dandakaranya come out of the forests for better treatment. It is learned that 10 Maoists have been killed in the forests of Chhattisgarh.
