Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy on Wednesday said senior Maoist leader Ravula Ranjith aka Srikanth has surrendered before the cops.

Srikanth was born to an underground couple subscribed to ideology in 1998 in Dandakaranya forest. He was brought up in the South Bastar division of Chhattisgarh state.

He is son of late Ravula Srinivas alias Ramanna, Central Committee Member and Secretary, DKSZC and Madivi Savithri, DVCM, Kistaram AC.

Police said since his childhood, he was taught about ideology and waging war against the State with an objective of establishing New Democratic Revolution (NDR) through the barrel of the gun. He studied from Class-I to Class-VI in the CPI (Maoist) established Janatana Sarkar School at Puttem alias Puttapadu area, CG, where he was indoctrinated with the revolutionary ideology.

Ravula Srinivas alias Ramanna secretly got him admitted to Kakatiya School, Nizamabad. He studied up to Class-X. During holidays, he used to visit DKSZC area with the help of late Nagesh, DVCM, and Shabari AC. He joined underground armed formations after completion of his Class-X in April 2015.

Nagesh, DVCM, and Shabari AC died in an exchange of fire in 2015. He was instrumental in propagating the ideology of CPI (Maoist) along with his father from April 2015 to November, 2017 (prior to joining the battalion).

On the advice of his father, he joined in CPI (Maoist) Battalion in November 2017 and worked in 2nd Platoon of 1st Company as Party Member. In November 2019, he got elevated as Platoon Party Committee (PPC) Member.

He participated in four brutal attacks on security forces and one ambush in addition to several other incidents during his underground life. They include the 2018 attack when nine security forces men were killed. He had participated in the Erram attack in 2020. A Company Party Committee (CYPC) Member died in the retaliatory action by the security forces.

He had participated in the Minapa attack in 2020. 23 security personnel and three cadres were killed in the incident. The party decamped with 12 AK-47 and 2 Insas rifles.

He had participated in the Jeeram attack in April 2021 wherein 26 security forces men and six members died. He had participated in the Thimpuram ambush.

DGP Telangana appealed to Maoist cadres to join the mainstream and take part in the advancement of the Nation through constructive participation and benefit from the rehabilitation process of Telangana State which includes immediate relief with a suitable amount and other support measures.

He was handed over a demand draft for Rs 4 lakh towards his rehabilitation and Rs 5000 for immediate expenses.
