Nalgonda: Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday assured the Nagarjuna Sagar tribals that the long-pending Podu land issue will be resolved very soon.

Wrapping up campaign trail for the Nagarjuna Sagar by-election, KCR said the government would start 'Praja Darbars' to resolve the Podu land issue.

"Podu land problem is prevalent across the state. I will find a solution," Rao announced.

Podu is a traditional system of farming used by tribes in India whereby different areas of forest are burned each year to provide land for cultivation.

"Ownership of irrigation lands to residents in Nandikonda would be certified. To ensure perennial irrigation, Godavari river interlinking project would be taken up. Proposed lift irrigation schemes will be completed. A new shaadikhana (marriage hall) will be constructed for Muslims. Repair works of existing mosques will also be undertaken," he said.

It was KCR second and last public meetings in Haliya as Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency will go to polls on April 17.

"The difference between Congress government and seven-year TRS government is Dharani portal, Mission Bhagiratha, 24­hour electricity, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Kalyana Lakshmi, and 10 times more pension, per capita consumption of electricity and per capita income," he said.

KCR said Congress' Jana Reddy was only boasting of 30­ year and 60­ year leadership, but the constituency did not have a degree college.

Chief Minister announced another degree college for Halia. He said the college would start functioning from in the BC Gurukul campus in Nandikonda.

KCR said that all the lift irrigation schemes would be completed on a war footing. "If we do not complete the lift irrigation schemes within the one-and-a-half year, we will not seek your votes again," he said.

KCR also said he would complete the Nellikallu Lift irrigation project even if he had to beg for funds. "I will seek Jagadish Reddy's resignation if Nellikal is not completed within one and a half years," he said.
