Next 3-4 weeks crucial for Telangana: Health official

The state is amplifying its efforts to contain the spread of the Covis19 virus however citizens should be vigilant. "Everyone should take precautions at least by the end of May 2021. The situation in the state is stabilizing since the past one week, " said Dr. Srinivasa Rao.
He added that about 80 percent of positive cases do not require hospitalization. Only 10 percent say they need to go to the hospital. It is pertinent to note that occasions like weddings and festivals ahead can play spoilsport, the people should be extra careful.
He added that people in Telangana who are in the age group of 18 to 45 years can register for COVID-19 vaccination on the co-WIN website. "When you register, the government will know how many of eligible citizens are eager to take vaccines. It is our responsibility to give vaccines to whoever is eligible," said Srinivasa Rao.
A total of 45 lakh people have been vaccinated so far in the state. "Around 40 percent of people above the age group of 45 has been vaccinated till now," according to statistics.
The Director of Public Health also claimed that Telangana is in a better position compared to many other states in terms of tests, beds, and oxygen supply, attributing this to various measures taken by the government over the last year.
He pointed out that when the pandemic broke out, the state had only 1,000 beds with oxygen supply but the number has now gone up to 50,000. "There are more than 18,000 oxygen beds and more than 10,000 ICU beds.
Meanwhile, The registration for Covid vaccination for all above 18 years of age began on the Co-WIN portal and Aarogya Setu app from 4 pm Wednesday. However, high user traffic resulted in both the platforms crashing for a brief period. Both the platforms are working fine now.
