Hyderabad: A 20-year-old student was gang-raped by three persons in an abandoned hospital building near the bus station in Nizamabad town on Tuesday night.
Five people were arrested by the Nizamabad police on Wednesday in connection with the alleged gangĀrape. According to police, a case under Section 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against the five accused.
Police said around 9 pm, three accused on motorbikes offered a lift to a girl when she was returning home. She was made to ride pillion on one of the bikes. They took her around Nizamabad saying they were going for a drive.
Later they took her to the abandoned hospital and sexually assaulted her in the security guard's room. Around 2 am on Wednesday, police received a Dial 100 call and soon a team along with the night duty officer rushed to the spot and rescued the victim.
The culprits committed the crime after forcing her to drink liquor.
Nizamabad Deputy Commissioner Arvind Kumar said they could not collect more details since the victim was still in an unconscious state. The victim is presently undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
With the help of surveillance cameras installed, police are trying to identify the people involved in the case.
