Orange alerts: IMD forecasts cold wave on Christmas eve

Hyderabad: Indian Meteorological Department has warned that cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places in Adilabad, Komarambheem-Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Hyderabad districts of Telangana.

They also predicted that minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 3°C to 5°C at most places over Telangana.

IMD in its weather inference said that low level of North-Easterlies/Easterlies prevails over the state which is causing the lowering of temperature over Telangana.


According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Arli Mandal in Adilabad district recorded the lowest temperature in the state, 4.3°C, while Rajendranagar in Rangareddy district recorded the lowest temperature in the GHMC area at 7.5°C. The highest maximum temperature of 33.7°C was recorded at Mohammadabad(Mahabubnagar).

The TSDPS also said that Minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 8°C to 13°C over Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nizamabad, Peddapalli and Karimnagar districts for Day-1 and over Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jayashankar and Medak districts for Day 2 and 3, while the maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 27°C to 30°C.

In the GHMC area minimum temperatures to be in the range of 11°C to 14°C while maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 27°C to 29°C.
