Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will hold a meeting with district collectors, and senior forest department officials to resolve the Podu land issue.
The meeting will be held on October 23. In the day-long meeting, the officials would discuss the problems faced by the tribals, who are involved in shift cultivation (Podu).
The meeting would formulate a comprehensive action plan. The meeting will also assess Haritha Haaram programme and discuss the future action plan.
Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod, Panchayat Raj Minister E Dayakar Rao, secretaries of the departments concerned, heads of the departments, all district collectors, district conservators, DFOs, ITDA project officers, and others will participate.
Before the proposed meeting, Special Chief Secretary Shanti Kumar, tribal welfare department Secretary Christina Z Chongtu, and PCCF Shobha will discuss the Podu land issue with field officials for three days.
Earlier, KCR made it clear that once the Podu land issue is settled, the officials should take all protective measures to ensure that the forest land is not encroached upon. There should be an end to land grabbing in the forest areas, he said.
KCR noted that the state government will not hesitate to take stringent measures to protect the forests in the state.
