Poojaris to imams: Telangana govt to inoculate 6L people from priority groups

Hyderabad: Telangana government has decided to vaccinate six lakh people from priority groups in the next four days.

Chairing a review meeting with chief secretary Somesh Kumar, Telangana Finance Minister T.Harish Rao asked the officials to inoculate remaining six lakh people from high exposure groups in GHMC, GWMC, and ULBs in the next four days.

Among those to be vaccinated on priority include 16,000 dialysis and Thalassemia patients, 3 lakh auto and cab drivers. Besides, 25,000 staff in engineering departments, 45,000 field staff in the power sector, 5,000 field level employees in Agriculture will be vaccinated in the next four days.

The government has also decided to inoculate 30,000 field staff of revenue-earning departments, 6000 IKP field staff. 15,000 bank employees in the districts. Besides, 13,000 postal employees, 60,000 public representatives of urban and rural local bodies, 35,000 RMP and PMPs practicing in rural areas will also be vaccinated.

Religious leaders too have been included in the priority category list. Around 50,000 Poojari, Imams, and Church Pastors will be vaccinated in the next four days.

The government informed that payment has been made to vaccine manufacturing companies for 16 lakh doses which were yet to be supplied. It has been decided to appoint a special officer to pursue the matter and ensure that the stocks are replenished.
