Rachakonda cops book 56K cases during COVID-19 lockdown
The police have seized 13,490 vehicles in the Rachakonda commissionerate since 12 May.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 May 2021 10:52 AM GMTHyderabad: The Rachakonda police have booked 56,466 cases during the lockdown - from 12 to 29 May - in the commissionerate area, it said on Saturday. The police have seized 13,490 vehicles in the Rachakonda commissionerate since 12 May.
Of the over 56,000 cases, 41,990 pertained to lockdown violations. Also, the police booked 11,638 cases against people not wearing masks or for improper wearing of masks. The police booked 1,823 cases against those not maintaining physical distance while 601 cases were booked for large gatherings. Around 414 cases were booked for consumption of liquor, pan or gutka, and other tobacco products in public places.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police on Friday said they have registered 9,552 cases during the lockdown of which 8,016 is regarding lockdown violations and 1,088 regarding no masks or improper wearing of masks. The police have also seized 6,514 vehicles.
Also, 367 cases were booked against those violating social distancing norms while 55 cases were registered for gathering in large numbers and 26 regarding consumption of liquor, paan, gutkha, and tobacco products in public. Meanwhile, the police said that on 27 May the Sultan Bazar police arrested two persons and seized eight two-wheelers that were stolen.
In another case, the police managed to secure convictions against two persons who were sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a year. A fine of Rs. 1,000 was also levied against each accused.
Cop lends a helping hand
A woman was on her way to the hospital when her car got punctured near Naivedyam Hotel in Padma Rao Nagar. An officer, Kiran Kumar, helped her change the tyre and made sure she reached her destination safely.
