Rachakonda She teams arrest 70 eve-teasers, stop 3 child marriages

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda She teams have arrested 70 eve-teasers and stopped three child marriages in the Rachakonda area in the last eight weeks. Out of the 70 people arrested, 12 are minors.
She teams along with NGO Bhumika Women's Collective conducted counseling for the arrested eve-teasers and their family members at the Commissioner Camp Office in LB Nagar. Dr. Vasavi, a professional psychologist, also assisted them in the counseling session.
The teams conducted decoy operations in different areas of Rachakonda and arrested men who were misbehaving with girls and women. In the decoy operations conducted in Metro trains, 18 people who ventured into the ladies' compartment were penalized.
At a time when child marriages are alarmingly increasing in rural areas, the Rachakonda She teams organized awareness programmes for the people and urged them to stop child marriages. The public was made to understand the problems caused by child marriages. In the last two months, the Chottupal She team has prevented three child marriages and the Rachakonda She teams have so far stopped 118 child marriages and rescued 118 minor girls.
Mahesh Bhagawat, the Rachakonda commissioner of police, encouraged all women and girls to approach Rachakonda She teams whenever they face eve-teasing or sexual harassment.
