Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in many places in Telangana. It also said thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the state for the next 48 hours.

The IMD also predicted heavy rain in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet, Khammam, Mulugu, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Medak, and Jogulamba Gadwal.

It also said that Hyderabad will see a cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The IMD also warned of rainwater pooling on roads and low-lying areas and wet and slippery roads.

Meanwhile, the directorate of enforcement, vigilance, and disaster management, GHMC, warned of the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in the city in the next one hour. It suggested citizens plan their commute accordingly. The DRF teams are alert and on the field, it added.

The IMD inference on Sunday said a cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. "The other cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height," the inference said.

According to the Telangana State Development and Planning Society, in the last 24 hours, the state recorded the highest rainfall of 129.4 mm at Raiparthy (Warangal Rural) while the highest maximum temperature of 36.8°C was recorded at Burgampahad (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and the lowest minimum temperature of 20.4°C was recorded at Vatwarlapally (Nagarkurnool).

In the GHMC area, the highest rainfall (5.9 mm) in the past 24 hours was recorded at Asifnagar (Circle no.12, Mehdipatnam) while the highest maximum temperature of 35°C was recorded at Ganaanka Bhavan (Circle no.17, Khairatabad ) and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.3°C was recorded at Kapra (Circle no.1, Kapra).

Also, the state average rainfall on 27 June was 21.4 mm against the normal 4.2 mm. The state's average cumulative rainfall from 1 to 27 June was 170.3 mm against the normal 112.2 mm with a deviation of 52 per cent.
