Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on 10 April predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in isolated places over Telangana for the next four days till 14 April.

It said that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana. It also predicted hailstorm in isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Pedapalli, Karimnagar, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Siricialla, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Narayanpet, mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal Malkajigi.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad will see a partly cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in the evening or night.

"The north-south trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood to the cyclonic circulation over Comorin area and neighbourhood across Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala at 0.9 km above mean sea level," the IMD inference on 10 April read.

The cloud cover has already led to a drop in maximum temperatures in several parts with Adilabad recording 39.8 °C and Hyderabad 36.8 °C.

"The rain will intensify between 13 and 15 April. Before that the state will experience light rainfall on and off," said Mahesh Palawat, the vice-president of meteorology at Skymet.

He also added that a cyclonic circulation is expected over eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and it will move in the southern direction towards Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Telangana in the next 24-48 hours. "Moisture incursion from West Bengal will continue in the form of southeasterly humid winds. Therefore, the rain will intensify over many parts of Telangana. There will be good spells between 13-15 April so we do not expect a heatwave for the next week," added Mr. Palawat.
