Huzurabad by-poll: Raja Singh missing from BJP's list of star campaigners, Vijayashanthi listed
The Telangana BJP on Thursday released the list of star campaigners for the Huzurabad by-election.

While actress and politician Vijayashanthi is included in the list, BJP's poster boy, the MLA from Dhoolpet T Raja Singh, is missing.
The 20 names include Union minister of culture G. Kishan Reddy, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP national vice-president D.K Aruna, BJP national OBC Morcha president K. Laxman, Madhya Pradesh state in-charge P. Murlidhar Rao, Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind, and MLA M. Raghunandhan Rao.
BJP has also included local leaders in the list of star campaigners. These include former MPs A.P Jithender Reddy, Vivek Venkata Swamy, and Chada Suresh Reddy, and former MLAs M. Dharma Rao, Koona Srisailam Goud, and Enugu Ravinder Reddy.
Tarun Chugh, the BJP national general secretary and Telangana state in-charge, is the only one from outside the state who is included in the list.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on 28 September had announced that the Huzurabad Assembly by-poll will be held on 30 October. The counting of votes will be held on 2 November.
The Huzurabad seat had fallen vacant after former TRS minister Eatala Rajender resigned on 12 June after he was removed from the cabinet for land encroachment. Later, he joined the BJP.
Mr. Rajender is seeking reelection on a BJP ticket. The ruling party, meanwhile, has nominated TRS Vidyarthi Vibhagam (TRSV) president Gellu Srinivas Yadav while Congress is yet to finalize its candidate.
Gellu Srinivas Yadav filed his nomination on the first day of nomination filing but Mr. Rajender is yet to file his. The last date of filing nominations is 8 October.
