Remdesivir black marketing: Private hospital employee among four arrested Karimnagar
Police found the gang was selling the drug at Rs 25,000, while the actual cost is around Rs 5,000.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 April 2021 3:20 AM GMTKarimnagar: Police have arrested four people including an employee of a private hospital for allegedly black marketing Remdesivir injection at Kisan Nagar in the city.
The accused have been identified as Dasari Suresh, Balagoni Satyanarayana, K Venkata Sailu and B Suresh.
Based on credible information, the task force teams raided a house at Kisan Nagar in the city and caught them red-handed while trying to sell the drugs. Police found that B Suresh is working in a private hospital at Warangal, which is treating Covid patients and has an adequate supply of Remdesivir.
The other three accused were looking for opportunities to make easy money. The trio came into contact with Suresh through a common friend. Suresh gave them the idea to black-market drugs and make money.
Accordingly, they decided to sell the drug at a higher price in Karimnagar. As per the plan, Suresh was supplying the drugs and the other three were selling them in the black market.
Police found the gang was selling the drug at Rs 25,000, while the actual cost is around Rs 5,000. Police seized 18 injections and Rs 40,000 cash from them.
Police are now probing if any other person was also part of the gang. Police are also trying to figure out whether anybody at the hospital in Warangal was helping Suresh.
