Reserve 1500 beds for black fungus patients, procure Posaconazole immediately: KCR to officials

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has directed the officials to reserve 1500 additional beds for black fungus patients in the state. Medical and Health officials informed the CM that 150 beds in Gandhi and 250 beds in ENT Hospitals have been reserved to treat black fungus patients.

"160 Beds in Gandhi and 200 Beds in Sarojini Devi eye hospitals should be reserved for Black Fungus patients. The bed strength should be increased to 1500 in the state," he said. KCR asked the officials to reserve 1100 beds In Hyderabad and 400 beds in other districts to combat black fungus.

"Along with the increase in bed strength, all the medicines should be made available to treat black fungus patients. Orders should be placed for the required medicines. Adequate stocks of Posaconazole should be made available. Plus the recruitment of doctors should be fast-tracked," he said.

Chairing a high-level review meeting here on Monday, KCR instructed the officials to implement a two-pronged strategy to combat COVID 19 in the state.

"Corona is on the decrease in the state. Lockdown is being implemented in the state strictly for the well-being of the people. We have to implement a twin-pronged strategy. Continue the fever survey and supply of medical kits to the needy as the programme is giving good results. At the same time, do not deny tests to the Corona suspected people. Don't have any restrictions on the number of tests.

The CM instructed that the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits should be increased to 50 Lakh. He also instructed Medical and Health department officials to talk to the manufacturers and ensure the required supply to the PHCs.

The CM made it clear that the process of recruiting doctors and other medical staff should be done immediately.

The CM also suggested that all the beds should be converted into Oxygen beds. He said measures should be taken to increase Oxygen production to 600 MT.

Corona Task Force Team Chairman and Minister KT Rama Rao was tasked to talk to the vaccine manufacturers about ramping up supplies so that people waiting for the second dose can be inoculated.

The CM also instructed the officials concerned to be on a high alert to face the situation arising out when a third wave occurs.

"So far we are getting good results in reducing the Corona cases. But we have to work hard to reduce its spread further. We have to learn from the good experiences and there is nothing wrong with it. Reports suggest that Delhi Government is successfully curtailing the spread. Maharashtra also achieved good results in curtailing the spread," he said.
