Hyderabad/New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted the state government to withdraw the petition filed for setting up of Krishna Tribunal on water sharing between Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

It may be recalled that the Centre has assured to look into the matter of setting up the tribunal if the Telangana government withdraws the petition.

Following the assurance from the Centre, the Telangana government sought the permission of the Apex court to withdraw the petition.

Top Court observed that at present it was not going to give any order on setting up the tribunal.

Meanwhile, the AP and Karnataka governments objected to the withdrawal of the petition. They informed the Supreme Court about filing a plea objecting to the withdrawal of the petition by the Telangana government. The Apex Court permitted AP and Karnataka governments to file an objection petition.
