Sharmila said the padayatra will start from Chevella and end there. She will tour all Assembly constituencies except the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). She will cover 12-15 km every day to know about the problems of the people, she said, adding that the unemployment deeksha will continue every Tuesday during the padayatra.
She said the aim of the padayatra was to achieve the aspirations of her father and late Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Sharmila is foraying into active politics by promising to bring back 'rajanna rajyam', a reference to her father's governance.
Timeline of YS Sharmila's entry into Telangana politics
On February 9, Sharmila made her first appearance saying Rajanna's Rajyam is missing in Telangana. That is when she hinted to enter into Telangana politics by forming a new party.
On the same day, YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said YSRCP has no intention of expanding to other states. Indicating that Sharmila does not have the support of her brother. "Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy has categorically stated that the party will be confined to Andhra Pradesh and will maintain cordial relations with its neighbours, Sajjala said, adding the decision to meet leaders from Telanagana is that of Y.S Sharmila alone and the YSRCP is not behind it.
April 10: Khammam: Ending suspense, YS Sharmila formally announced to launch her own party in Telangana on her father's birth anniversary on July 8. The announcement was made during the 'Sankalpa Sabha' in Khammam. While her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy stayed away from the meeting, While Sharmila's mother YS Vijayamma joined her.
She accused the KCR-led government of cheating unemployed youth, farmers, and other improvised sections of society. "The self-esteem of people of Telangana is being crushed under the feet of Doras (rulers), Telangana earned the dubious distinction of witnessing more than 6,000 farmers' suicides. This is the second-highest farmer suicide cases in the country," she said.
April 15: Tension gripped near Telugu Talli flyover on Thursday when Sharmila suffered injury and her blouse was torn during a scuffle with police. Police later took Sharmila into preventive custody for breaching the time window permitted by the law enforcement agency for a daylong hunger strike demanding job notification for unemployed youth. She was later released. Meanwhile, Sharmila has been holding meetings with her close aides.
June 3rd :Y S Sharmila names it Y S R Telangana party. The commission has invited objections against the name of the party via advertorials in the regional newspapers. Putting an end to all speculation Y.S. Sharmila begins solo fight as of now.
