Sunitha Lakshma Reddy appointed chairperson for Telangana State Women's Commission
Following a direction of the High court, the Telangana government on December 27 appointed Vakiti Sunitha Lakshma Reddy as chairperson for state women Commission.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 27 Dec 2020 10:37 PM ISTHyderabad: Following a direction of the Telangana High court, the state government on December 27 appointed Vakiti Sunitha Lakshma Reddy as chairperson for Telangana State Women's Commission.
It is pertinent to note that the body has been headless for a period exceeding two years. The appointment comes after a relentless fight put up by many of the female rightsactivist.
The government appointed Vakiti Sunitha Lakshma Reddy as the Chairperson and six members for the commission. The body includes Shaheena Afroze, Kumar Eshwari Bhai, Jimmy Umadevi Yadhav, Gaddala Padma, Sudhan Lakshmi and Katari Revathi Rao as members.
The members headed by their chairperson have been appointed for a period of 5 years, the order said. It is to note that V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy served as a minister for women and child welfare during the Congress rule in United Andhra Pradesh
