Meanwhile, a rehearsal of the Muharram procession was held in the Old City on 14 August. The HEH Nizam Trust and the local Shia organizations had arranged for Madhuri, a 38-year-old elephant from Kolhapur, to carry the Bibi ka Alam during the main procession on Friday. The elephant reached the city on Friday night and was taken to the Dabeerpura area. It is being kept at the Khilwat ashoorkhana.
The elephant procession passed through Dabeerpura, Yakutpura road, Charminar, Gulzar Houz, and Mandi Mir Alam before culminating at Darulshifa Chaderghat. The elephant is taken for a familiarization trip every year to prepare it for the main procession that is held on the 10th of the Islamic month of Muharram.
