Hyderabad: Telangana government has suspended COVID vaccination drive for people above 45 years for two days from Saturday following Centre's new guidelines and changes in the `CoWIN' portal.
The drive will resume on Monday, according to the Director of Public Health.
Centre has increased the gap between the first and second dose of `Covishield'. The interval has been increased from the present six-eight weeks to twelve-sixteen weeks.
Meanwhile, Telangana reported 4,305 new Covid positive cases on Friday. The state also reported 29 deaths on Friday taking the overall death tally to 2896.
There is a steep fall in tests in the state. On Friday, only 57,416 tests were conducted against 71,221 the previous day. The results of 1,714 reports are awaited.
The number of people recovered is 6,361. The total number of recoveries so far is 4.63 lakh. Active cases have further come down to 54,832 as against 56,917 the previous day. So far 5.21 lakh people have been infected in the state.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and surrounding districts top the list although the cases appear to be coming down with 607 infections reported in the main city, 293 in Rangareddy and 291 in MalkajgiriMedchal. About 111 cases were reported from Sangareddy.
