Hyderabad: Amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, Telangana Health Department on Wednesday launched hospital bed availability portal to avoid any panic situation.

On July 9, 2020, Telangana High Court had asked the health department to launch a website and post updated information on live bed status and other facilities.

People can visit the site by clicking on the link (http://164.100.112.24/SpringMVC/Hospital_Beds_Statistic_Bulletin_citizen.htm) or can visit the health department website(https://health.telangana.gov.in/#) and click on COVID19 Hospital Bed Availability Status.

Till Wednesday, out of the total 43,161 beds in the state, 27,306 are vacant. Of the total 13,862 beds in government hospitals, 9,851 are vacant. Of the total 1,893 ICU beds, 864 are occupied and 1,029 are vacant. Of the total 29,299 beds in private hospitals, 17,455 beds are vacant. Out of total 6,664 ICU beds, 3,716 are occupied and 2,948 vacant.

The state has 46,488 active cases. Around 15,855 beds have been occupied. Of the total 8,557 ICU beds, 4,580 beds are filled with COVID 19 patients.

Around 28 private hospitals in Hyderabad are full to capacity. Likewise, in Medchal Malkajgiri, 14 private hospitals have no beds available. In Rangareddy, 7 private hospitals are full to capacity. It may be recalled that these three districts reported 2000 cases on Tuesday. In Nizamabad, out of 8 private hospitals, three hospitals have no beds available.

Meanwhile, For the first time, Telangana's single day COVID tally breached the 6000 mark on Tuesday. The state reported 6,542 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The previous highest single-day spike was on April 20 when the state reported 5,926 COVID positive cases. The overall tally has touched 3,67,537 in the state.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area reported 898 new cases. Neighboring Rangareddy district reported 532 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 570 new cases.

Other districts of Telangana are also seeing a surge in cases. Nizamabad on Tuesday reported 427 new cases while Sanagareddy reported 320 cases, Nalgonda reported 285 cases, Mahaboobnagar reported 263 cases, Khammam reported 246 cases and Warangal Urban reported 244 cases.

The state reported twenty new deaths on Tuesday taking the overall toll to 1,876. The fatality rate in the state is 0.50 percent which is less than the national average of 1.2 percent.
