Hyderabad: Both Houses of the Telangana legislature were adjourned till Monday after adopting condolence motions. The monsoon session of the legislature kicked off on Friday. Soon after the Legislative Assembly met for the day, the condolence motions were taken up by Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.
After the adoption of the condolence motions, the Assembly was adjourned for the day. Later, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) met to decide the agenda and duration of the monsoon session. In BAC meeting, it is decided to conduct Legislature session till October 5
The previous session was adjourned sine die on March 26 after the passage of the Appropriation Bill for the current fiscal.
According to sources, eight bills are likely to come up for discussion during the session. A special debate is also expected to be held on the flagship Dalit Bandhu scheme. Bills to check the activities of touts who cheat tourists, and Goods and Services Tax may also be taken up.
Another Bill relating to the reorganization of villages that were merged with the municipal bodies is also expected to be tabled in the session. Two ordinances relating to Housing and setting up of Horticulture University are likely to be replaced by bringing bills during the session, according to sources
The Legislative Council also adjourned till September 27 after adopting a condolence motion. Tight security arrangements have been made around the Assembly complex.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will visit New Delhi on September 24 to meet union jal sakthi minister Gajendra Shekhawat. The meeting will take place on September 25.
On September 26, KCR will attend a meeting at Vignan Bhavan organized by the union home ministry. Later, he will hold a discussion on paddy procurement with union food and civil supplies minister Piyush Goyal. KCR will return to Hyderabad the same day.
