Telangana reports 2,157 new COVID19 cases, Hyderabad adds 361 cases on Tuesday

The state has 25,459 active cases currently of which 16,892 are under home isolation.

Telangana reports 2,157 new COVID19 cases, Hyderabad adds 361 cases on Tuesday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 2,157 new Covid cases on Tuesday taking the overall tally to 3,34,738 in the state.

The state reported Eight new deaths on April 13 taking the total death toll to 1,780. The fatality rate in the state is 0.53 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on Tuesday reported 361 new cases. The neighbouring Rangareddy district reported 206 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 245 and Sangareddy 135 new cases.

Other districts of Telangana are also seeing a surge in cases. Nizamabad on Tuesday reported 187 new cases while Jagtial reported 107 cases and Karimnagar 74 cases.

Around 821 citizens recovered from the infection on Tuesday taking total recoveries to 3,07,499 in the state. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 91.86 per cent, which is approximately four per cent higher than the national average of 88.9 per cent.

The government tested 72,364 citizens on Tuesday. So far 1,112,53,374 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 3,02,347. Reports of 4,959 samples are awaited. The state tested 49.8 per cent primary contacts while 12.8 per cent secondary contacts.

There are only 20 Government RT-PCR / CBNAAT / TRUENAT centres in the state. Around 60 private centres too are operational. On Tuesday, 163,777 tests were conducted at Government centres.

Also, out of total infection, 79.8 per cent were asymptomatic while 20.2 per cent are symptomatic.

Meanwhile, India recorded its biggest-ever single-day spike with 184,372 fresh cases. With this, India's Covid tally has shot up to 13,873,825 cases, according to MoHFW. India is the 2nd worst-hit nation in terms of total Covid-19 cases and the 3rd-worst-hit country in terms of active cases. India also witnessed 1,027 fatalities due to covid-19 in a single day. The death toll from the deadly infection stands at 172,115.
