Hyderabad: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Education, Government of Telangana, on 3 February announced that the government will reduce the number of question papers from the existing 11 papers to 6 papers (one paper per subject) for SSC public examination 2020-21. Each paper will be for 80 marks.
The government said that based on the proposal by the Director of the School Education, Telangana, and after careful examination of the matter the government hereby order the changes in the existing pattern of SSC examination for the benefit of students for the academic year 2020-21.
As per the new pattern, questions from Paper I and Paper II of First Language (Telugu/Hindi/Urdu), Third language (English), Mathematics, Science (Physics and Biology) and Social Studies will be merged into a single paper for each subject. There will be no change in the Second Language paper (Telugu/Hindi).
Also, there will be an increase in the duration of the examination by half an hour from 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes. The answer booklet will be issued separately for physical science and biological science to facilitate the valuation of the answer scripts. There will be more choice in questions for each paper in view of the conduct of online classes.
