Hyderabad: Call it a Dasara gift, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday announced to share 29 percent Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) profits with its workers.

This is one percent more than the last year.

KCR instructed the SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Sridhar to make payment before Dasara. The CM reiterated that the government is committed to the welfare of Singareni workers.

He said that there is a need to expand the activities of Singareni. "Workers deserve a pat for making Singareni one of the top organizations in coal mining and power generation," he said.

He said the expertise of Singareni workers should not be confined to excavate coal. He said it should be utilized in mining sand, limestone, and Iron ore also.

KCR said the state government will utilize the experience and expertise of the workers to make Singareni a top-class company. "Private companies are earning profits by utilizing the services of retired Singareni employees and workers. Why can't we do the same? It is unfortunate that the Centre is privatizing profit-making PSUs," he said.

He said the workers will be entrusted with the duties to manage other minerals reserves in the state.

The CM responded positively to the request made by Minister Koppula Eswar for help to the retired employees. Eswar told the CM that retired Singareni employees and workers are getting less than Rs 2000 pension from the Centre.

The CM instructed the officials to prepare a report on how the state government can help the retired Singareni Employees and workers.
