TRS Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy booked for threatening journalist

TRS Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy booked for threatening journalist

Hyderabad: Sangareddy district police booked TRS MLA from Patancheru Gudem Mahipal Reddy for threatening a journalist who exposed his alleged land grab.

He was booked under section 109, 448, 504, 506 of the IPC and section 3(2) of the SC & ST Prevention of Atrocities Act at Ameenpur police station.

A journalist working with a regional newspaper lodged a complaint against the MLA. Santosh, a journalist working with Vaartha newspaper at Patancheru has written a series of articles on land grabbing activities. In his articles, he stated that MLA Mahipal Reddy and his associates were involved in land grabbing and other illegal activities.

As the articles were widely circulated on social media platforms and became controversial, Mahipal Reddy became aggressive and called up Santosh to meet him at his office. But when Santosh did not turn up at his office, he called him over the phone and allegedly threatened to kill him. He allegedly abused him and called him names. The audio clips had gone viral on social media platforms.

In the audio, Mahipal Reddy is heard saying how Santosh can write such articles. He is also heard challenging Santosh that he can record the call and complaint to anyone, even the DGP, but he does not care.

Mahipal Reddy is heard saying that he will barge into Santosh's place, chop off his hands and legs, and kill him.

Santosh after lodging a complaint released a video stating that he has a threat and urged police to act on his complaint and take serious action.
