Bhadradri Kothagudem: Two members of Cherla Local Organization Squad (LOS) of the banned CPI (Maoist) party surrendered before the Kothagudem police on Saturday.

The duo was identified as Gattupalli Suresh (25) and Bodika Bheemaiah alias Bheemanna (34), originally from Chhattisgarh. They surrendered before the superintendent of police, Sunil Dutt, at the district headquarters town on Saturday afternoon.

The two were working for the Maoist party for the last six years and had been members of Cherla LOS for the last three years. The police said the duo quit the proscribed outfit unable to bear the harassment at the hands of Maoist leaders.

Many Maoist cadres were ready to quit the party but senior Maoist leaders were threatening them and forcefully taking them from villages and prohibiting them from surrendering before the police, the SP said.

He appealed to all Dalam and militia members to contact their relatives and the police to surrender. The SP handed over cash reward to the surrendered Maoists.
