`Westside Ventures' fined Rs 4L for felling 65 trees in Rangareddy's Chilkur village

Hyderabad: Telangana Forest Department has imposed a fine of Rs four lakh on a real estate company for felling 65 trees near Chilkur village in Rangareddy district.
The forest department also instructed the company `Westside Ventures' to plant the same number of trees at its facility.
Locals in the area lodged a complaint against the company for illegal tree felling. Officials carried out an inspection of the site and found indiscriminate felling of trees.
As per WALTA Act provisions, a penalty of Rs four lakh was imposed and the company was directed to plant saplings again.
