Will fight for Dalit development till my last breath: KCR

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said he will fight for the development of the Dalits in the state till his last breath the way he fought for Telangana where he was ready to sacrifice his life for a separate state.

KCR held a review meeting at Karimnagar District Collectorate Complex on Friday to discuss the Dalit Bandhu scheme. The meeting was attended by ministers Harish Rao, Koppula Ishwar, Gangula Kamalakar, and other officials.

The Chief Minister called on the entire state to join hands for the socio-economic development of the Dalits and end centuries of discrimination and poverty.

KCR clarified that Telangana was achieved with perseverance and the same perseverance will help achieve integrated development of Dalits. "It is the uniqueness of the Telangana community that we do not give up that easily," he added.

Telangana has witnessed significant development in the last seven years. The entire irrigation system has been revived, agriculture has become profitable, and there is an uninterrupted power supply, KCR said. "Telangana is moving towards meaningful and qualitative development, ending decades of discrimination and emerged as the 'Rice Bowl of India' with paddy production of three crore tonnes last year," he added.

The Chief Minister said the state government has been spending crores of rupees to support traditional professions like sheep rearing, fish farming, and handlooms. It also supports MBCs through numerous welfare schemes. He said the state has been supporting all communities, including SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities for the last seven years. He recalled numerous initiatives like Rythu Bandhu, Aasara pensions, Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak, KCR Kits, Ammavodi vehicles, and others that have been launched for the benefit of all sections of society.
