Hyderabad: While Darbar is slated for release on January 9, preparations for Thalaivar’s next, which marks his 168th project, have already begun. Rajinikanth has joined hands with director Siva for the first time for the film, which has Khushbu and Keerthy Suresh. The latest addition to the team is none other than actress Meena.

Sun Pictures, on their Twitter handle, shared a video of Meena expressing her happiness on joining the cast. Reports suggest that Meena is likely to be playing Rajinikanth’s wife while Keerthy will be playing his daughter.

Meena will be reuniting with Rajinikanth after 24 long years and fans are super excited about it. They were last seen together in Muthu in 1995. Actor Prakash Raj has also landed a vital role in the movie. Produced by Sun Pictures, Thalaivar 168 has music by D Imman, who is reuniting with Siva after Viswasam. If reports are to go by, Thalaivar 168 is expected to release sometime next year.

Reportedly, actress Keerthy Suresh chose to walk out of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan to be part of Thalaivar 168. To share that she is part of this flick, she took to Twitter and wrote, “Extremely happy to announce this magical milestone in my journey. From being awe struck of @rajinikanth sir to sharing screen space with him will be my most cherished memory in my life. Thank you. @directorsiva sir @sunpictures #Thalaivar168 (sic).”

Interestingly, Keerthy Suresh’s mother, Menaka, has worked with Rajinikanth in Netri Kann, directed by SP Muthuraman.

If reports are to go by, the film will go on floors next year and might release during Diwali 2020.
