The commercial rollout of Jio Fiber

Hyderabad: Coinciding with the date (September 5, 2016) on the commercial launch of Reliance Jio three years ago, Reliance Jio Infocomm on Thursday launched the commercial rollout of 'Jio Fiber,' India's first 100 per cent all-fibre broadband service comprising unlimited data, free voice calling and TV cable channels. Billionaire businessman Mr Mukesh Ambani on August 12 already made an announcement on Jio Fiber service. So far, Reliance Jio received over 15 million registrations from 1,600 towns for JioFiber service since August 15, 2018.
Akash Ambani, director at Reliance Jio Infocomm, said: "I want to especially thank our five lakh JioFiber preview users, who have contributed significantly in perfecting our product and service experience. I welcome them to experience the next level of JioFiber."
Reliance Jio in a statement said that "the fibre-based broadband services at a speed of 100 Mbps for a package of Rs699 per month. The tariff will be Rs8,499 per month for broadband internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps."
Complimentary set-top box
Jio Fiber subscribers will get a complimentary set-top box, which will enable the users to access movies and other video content and entertainment apps.
Jio set-top box will also offer cable TV channels. For this Reliance, Jio is working with local cable operators (LCOs).
Fixed landline
Reliance Jio Fiber offers a fixed landline service at free of cost. It may also offer international calls at affordable tariff as well.
Addressing at the 41st AGM in last August, Ambani had said: "ISD call tariff will be in the range of one-fifth to one-tenth of current tariffs. We will be offering unlimited voice calls to US and Canada at just Rs500 per month."
Jio Forever
As part of the Jio Forever plan, Jio will offer long-term users an HD or 4k LED television and 4k set-top box at free of cost.
Exactly three years ago, Mukesh Ambani launched Jio telecom service offering free voice calls with data packages at rock-bottom levels. It created history in the world telecom industry as Reliance Jio turned around in just first fifteen months.
Ambani earlier said: "Over the past year, we have built significant momentum in our JioFiber rollout. The company is confident that we'll complete our network rollout within the next 12 months."
The range of services includes TV video calling and conferencing, entertainment OTT apps, gaming home networking, device security, VR experience, premium content platform, etc.
