According to the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute officials, as many as 550 emission-testing certificates have already been handed over to the manufacturers.
These crackers will have both sound and light. The only thing unique about them would be that the buyer could now check whether they are buying low-emission crackers using the logo. Besides, with the help of the QR code, the buyers can understand the production and emission testing details.
What are ‘Green Crackers’?
Green crackers contain low aluminium content, and use of barium salts and ash is banned in the manufacturing of these. According to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), crackers that cause 30-35% fewer emissions and 35-40% lower sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions are categorised as green crackers.
