Three killed after car plunges into canal in West Godavari

Eluru: Three people were killed while another miraculously survived when their car plunged into a canal near Jagannadhapuram under Poduru Mandal in West Godavari district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Chitayya, 23, Kasi, 25, and Khaja Hussain 45, all residents of Mastyapuram in West Godavari district.
The incident took place when they were on their way to procure small prawn and prawn seed.
Police said the driver lost control over the vehicle and plunged into the canal. Three people died of drowning while fourth managed to survive.
Police and fire service personnel with the support of the locals retrieved bodies. Police have shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy.
Police have launched a hunt for the driver, who survived but escaped from the spot.
