The family of the child lodged a formal complaint with the police and staged a protest against the doctors at the hospital.
According to sources, Mamatha, a resident of Old city in Hyderabad, delivered a female child three months ago. Two days ago, the child got a fever and became sick.
Her parents shifted the child to Niloufer hospital at Nampally for specialized treatment. Till Friday night, doctors allegedly told them that the child was recovering. Despite repeated requests for extra care, doctors maintained that the child was recovering and there is nothing to worry about, said the family members.
Suddenly on Saturday, the doctors informed the parents about the child’s death. Shell shocked parents blamed the doctors and other staff for being negligent in providing proper treatment to the child. They staged a dharna at the hospital premises and demanded action against the doctors. “Doctors’ negligence killed our child,” the family members said.
Later they lodged a formal police complaint against doctors and the child’s body was shifted for postmortem. Further investigation is underway. After police assured them a fair investigation, the family dispersed peacefully.
