Tirupati civic body to conduct door-to-door survey for foreign returnees
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 March 2020 5:04 AM GMTHyderabad: The Tirupati Municipal Corporation is going to conduct a door-to-door survey to identify foreign returnees within the city limits and prevent the spread of Corona cases. Even though no case has been registered in Chittoor district till now, the municipal authorities are taking extensive measures keeping in view the number of devotees that visited the temple city recently.
Commissioner PS Girisha appealed to the city residents on Sunday to cooperate with the survey. They have been asked to provide details about foreign returnees in their houses, if any, and in nearby areas. He said they will also conduct a mock drill in the city every day for creating awareness on personal hygiene that will prevent the spread of virus. A help desk number, 0877-2256766, has been set up to call and clarify doubts about the Corona virus and its spread.
Furthermore, Chittoor District Collector Dr Narayana Bharath Gupta said that they had set up an isolation ward with 200 beds at Padmavati Nilayam in Tirupati. He said that the two cases in Chittoor that were tested for the virus were found negative. He added that they had provided training to medical staff on handling OPD and IPD cases to prevent spread of the virus at hospitals.
