TN law minister asks Madras HC CJ to reconsider resignation

Sources say that he reportedly asked her to withdraw her resignation and take up her new responsibility in the Meghalaya high court.
Law minister C. V. Shanmugamās meeting comes at a time when advocates of the Madras high court are planning a demonstration against the Supreme Court Collegiumās decision to transfer Justice Tahilramani.

Justice Tahilramani had tendered her resignation a couple of days ago after the Supreme Court Collegium declined her request to reconsider her transfer to Meghalaya.
She had sent her resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind and a copy of the same to Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Friday night.
The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice Gogoi, on August 28 had recommended Justice Tahilramaniās transfer to the Meghalaya high court. Justice Tahilramani made a representation requesting the Collegium to reconsider the proposal, but the Collegium refused. Justice Tahilramani was elevated as the Madras High Court's Chief Justice on August 8 last year.
