By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Aug 2019 9:40 AM GMTChennai: Tami Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami surprised everyone by ditching his usual traditional attire veshti-sattai during his three-day visit to London. EPS was seen donning a suit and tie in which he looked at ease while interacting with officials. The CM is on a three-day visit to London where he is to participate in various events. His pictures were widely shared on social media and the way he tied his tie found special mention.
While his new look won him praise from certain people, he was trolled by some.
A few popular background music scores (BGMs) from actor Rajinikanth's films were added to EPS' visuals in formal attire on FB and Twitter. Popular punch lines from Rajinikanth starrer Kabali also were featured.
Few AIADMK men took the opportunity to take a dig at opposition leader M.K. Stalin. Stalin had questioned the real motive behind the CM's foreign trip which was primarily aimed at wooing global investment to the state. DMK's ally the Congress also took a jibe at Stalin. Congress leader Karate Thyagarajan, reminded Stalin of a trip he had made to Bangkok back in 2007 with his friend without informing the Central government when he was the local administration minister. His trip had created a controversy then, Thyagarajan added, much to the embarrassment of DMK.
The Chief Minister was seen in a three-piece suit on day two of his visit. Even those who were critical of the CM came out in defence.
Naam Thamizhar chief Seeman, said, "It is individual liberty to wear what he/ she feels comfortable. It is cold out there and hence EPS is wearing a suit. Only those mentally deranged would make fun of it. He is the Chief Minister of the state and we should respect him (sic).
