Top commander among three Maoists arrested in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Vizag rural police on Wednesday arrested three Maoists including a commander of banned CPI Maoist party in two different operations in the Visakhapatnam district.

Police sources said acting on specific information, security forces raided a hideout and arrested Bonangi Nageswara Rao alias Nagesh of Balapam Panchayat. The 34-year-old was a Dalam member and worked as Korukonda area commander

Nageswara Rao had joined the militia in 2005 and was allegedly involved in the murder of Gemmeli Bhaskara Rao and Pangi Sathi Babu of Veeravaram village. He was also involved in a recent landmine blast at Chinthalaveedhi of Jamiguda Panchayat in which two innocent tribals were killed.

In another case, a militia committee member and an armed cadre were arrested by the Paderu police.

One of the arrested men was identified as Gaduthur Ramachandrapadal alias Chandra, 35, of Ginnnelakota village. He was a militia committee member of Ginnelakota pocket of Pedabayalu Dalam. Another arrested cadre was identified as Sindri Apparao alias Mugiri, 31, of Injiri Panchayat.

Circle Inspector of Paderu Police P Pydapu Naidu said that both were involved in several murders including that of Pangi Shivayya 35 in Munchingputtu Mandal. They were also involved in arson, he said.
