2,000 people turn up for CM Revanth’s first Praja Darbar at Jyotirao Phule Bhavan

Hyderabad: A day after becoming the Telangana chief minister, A Revanth Reddy addressed the grievances of people in the state by holding the first ‘Praja Darbar’ on Friday, at his official residence, the Jyotirao Phule Bhavan (formerly Pragati Bhavan) at Begumpet.

The first day of CM’s Praja Darbar received a good response as people came not only from Hyderabad but also from other districts. Around 1,500 to 2,000 people queued outside the venue from the morning on Friday. The large public turn-up also added to the traffic woes.

Public issues were about jobs, housing

On the first day, CM Revanth gave priority to the differently-abled people by enquiring about their plights and received applications from them. The public came with complaints mainly about jobs, land issues, lack of houses and official highhandedness.

Revanth Reddy also listened to the problems being faced by the people who came to Praja Darbar in large numbers and their pleas on various issues, asking for the state government’s help. The CM said that immediate measures will be taken to address the people’s grievances.

How was Praja Darbar organised?

For Praja Darbar, 15 desks were opened for grievance registration. A special mechanism was developed to register the petitions online and issue a unique Grievance Number (ID generated) to each petition. A printed acknowledgement will be given to the applicant along with an SMS acknowledgement.

As people queued up outside, 320 seats were arranged for the public to sit inside the Praja Darbar and overhead shades were provided for those waiting in the queue to protect them from the sun and heat. Drinking water and other facilities were also provided to those waiting at the entrance and in the Praja Darbar hall.

Ministers and government officials were present

State ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Dansari Anasuya (popularly known as Seethakka) were also present at the Praja Darbar. After the CM left for the Secretariat to attend an emergency meeting, Cabinet minister Seethakka received grievance applications from everyone.

"CM Revanth enquired thoroughly about the problems being faced by people who came to 'Praja Darbar' in large numbers and their pleas on various issues for government help. The chief minister said immediate measures will be taken to address the people's grievances," it said.

The state government made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of Praja Darbar. CMO special chief secretary V Seshadri, DGP Ravi Gupta, Metro water works (Jalamandali) MD Dana Kishore, GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose, Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty and other officials coordinated for the smooth conduct of the Praja Darbar.

The Congress, while in opposition when the BRS was in power, had often alleged that the then CM K Chandrasekhar Rao was inaccessible to the people.
