3 dead, several injured in a stampede during TDP's Sankranthi Kanuka event

The incident happened when the crowd gathered to get the 'Sankranthi Kanuka.'
The incident occurred after Mr. Naidu left the venue post-meeting. The injured were immediately rushed to Government General Hospital, Guntur. According to the sources, suffocation and high pressure during the stampede caused the death of the three people.
Guntur SP Arif Hafeez said that Chandrababu Naidu had planned to present gifts for the upcoming Sankranthi festival on Sunday. The TDP leaders arranged the public meeting at 2 pm. The stampede happened after Naidu left the meeting, and people gathered to collect Sankranthi Kanuka.
This is the second such stampede incident that happened during the TDP meeting. A similar incident happened a few days ago in Nellore, where eight persons died during a road show by Mr. Naidu.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the officials to ensure quality medicare to those injured and stand by the families of the deceased. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
