New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday approved the appointment of over two dozen advocates and judicial officers as judges across various High Courts in the country, including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Four advocates appointed to Telangana High Court

The collegium has cleared the names of four advocates for elevation as judges of the Telangana High Court. The approved candidates are:

Ghous Meera Mohiuddin:

Born in 1969 in Balanagar, Hyderabad, Mohiuddin is the son of Mohammed Ismail, who worked as a manager at HMT. He completed his five-year law course from VR Law College, Nellore, under Venkateswara University and later earned an LLM from Osmania University.

Enrolled as an advocate in 1993, he has served as standing counsel for the Joint Bar Council and Telangana Bar Council, gaining expertise in civil and constitutional law.

Suddala Chalapathi Rao:

Born in 1971 in Janagama, Chalapathi Rao enrolled with the Bar Council in 1998 after completing his law degree. He started his career under senior advocate Y Rama Rao and has specialised in civil and criminal law. He is currently serving as Standing Counsel for Jayashankar Agricultural University.

Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy:

Born in 1970 in Kondamadugu mandal, Bhuvanagiri district, Ramakrishna Reddy hails from a farming family. After completing BCom and LLB, he enrolled in 1998 and began practice under senior advocate A Ananth Reddy.

He has gained expertise across constitutional, civil, criminal, revenue, tax, family, company and service laws, and has worked as standing counsel for several banks and private firms.

Gadi Praveen Kumar:

Born in 1971 in Bheemgal, Nizamabad district, Praveen Kumar completed his MA from Osmania University, law degree from Kakatiya University and Masters from Osmania. Enrolled as an advocate in 1999, he trained under High Court advocate Jayaprakash Rao.

He has expertise in constitutional, service, contract, labour, civil and criminal law, and is currently serving as Deputy Solicitor General. He has also represented several public sector undertakings as standing counsel.

Andhra Pradesh High Court to get one new judge

The collegium has also approved the appointment of advocate Tuhin Kumar Gedela as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.



Tuhin Kumar Gedela:

Hailing from Katthulakaviti village, Veeraghattam mandal in Parvathipuram Manyam district, Gedela completed his schooling and intermediate education in Visakhapatnam before obtaining his LLB from NBM Law College.

Enrolled as an advocate in 1994, he served as Standing Counsel for Guntur Municipal Corporation between 2010-14 and was General Secretary of the High Court Lawyers Association in 2016-17. He is currently the Standing Counsel for the Central ES Government.

Expected Impact

These fresh appointments are expected to strengthen the respective High Courts and reduce the backlog of cases, improving judicial efficiency and delivery in both States.
