42 non-voters sent out, Rs. 2.9L seized in Munugode on polling day: CEO Vikas Raj

By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 Nov 2022 8:06 AM GMTTelangana Chief Election Officer Vikas Raj said that nearly 38 calls have been made to the police with complaints pertaining to non-voters (outsiders) still there in the Munugode constituency. He said that nearly 42 such people have been identified and sent out of the constituency in the first half of the day on Thursday.
Additionally, 28 cases have been reported to the Revenue Team. "Upon checking, they found cash in two places. In total Rs 2,99,000 has been seized," Vikas Raj said.
CEO Vikas Raj had earlier asked all unauthorized people other than registered voters in Munugode to leave by 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
He said that this is an ongoing process and that necessary teams are being deputed once a complaint is received.
"After mock polls began, there were some issues with a few VVPAT machines and control units in the Munugode Constituency. However, the issues have been fixed. This has caused the polling to temporarily stop in some places. Now, the polling is going on smoothly again," Vikas Raj said.
"As of now, the polling is going peacefully. At a polling station in Marrigude, there was a verbal clash between the supporters of two different candidates. The police have dispersed them" he said.
Around 45 police teams and 37 revenue teams have been deployed to reduce the number of outsiders in the constituency. The teams will visit the villages to keep an eye on any cash distribution or other inducements being offered to the voters.
An Income Tax team of seven members had been deployed to monitor the expenditure-related activities of the candidates and political parties. Around 3,366 State police personnel and 15 companies of the central armed police force have been deployed in Munugode. In addition, 100 checkpoints have been set up throughout the constituency to monitor the movement of men and materials from other locations.
