4,570 more Covid cases in AP; highest in Chittoor

One death has been reported in the state. On Sunday, an alert was put in Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple after four members, including two priests and two employees, were tested positive.
The temple authorities immediately asked the persons who had symptoms and were in contact with the positive to get tested. Complete sanitization of the temple is being taken up by the temple authorities. Also, sources said that the temple will further have a thermal screening at the entrance of the temple.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MLA Ambati Rambabu has been tested COVID positive on 16 January, Sunday. This is the third time that the MLA has been affected with COVID during the pandemic.
As per the release given by the State Command Control Room, the highest number of positives are reported in Chittoor- 1124. This week, Anantapur crossed over 300 cases and reported 347. Districts in East Godavari, Nellore, Krishna, and Vizianagaram reported above 200 positive cases. In the last 24 hours, a total of 669 recovered from Covid in the state and 26,770 active cases are currently under treatment in the state.
